Our Managing Partner, Prince Williams-Joel. Esq , popularly known as Prince Joel, delivered a talk at the just concluded NBA Section on Law Practice Seminar tagged: Trends in Modern Day Law Practice, which took place at the ACE Hall, City Mall Lagos Island, Lagos.

Prince Joel, a seasoned digital and commercial legal practitioner spoke from the wealth of experience he has garnered over the years on the topic, Harnessing Social Media Resources to create visibility. The Benefits and disadvantages. Prince Joel spoke alongside Mr. Adedunmade Onibokun of Legal Naija and Ms. Busola Ajala of Strictly Law Biz.

Prince Joel in the course of his presentation described Law Practice as a business that requires patronage globally . He submitted through an empirical analysis that digitalization is gradually taking over the global business activities, which will of course require a firm and paradigm shift from the analogue system to digital system in the legal practice in Nigeria. He further submitted that the targeted clients of legal practitioners spend time on the internet seeking answers to their various questions on law.

Prince Joel submitted that staying active on various social media platforms and blogging is a way to remain relevant in the paradigm shift. He enjoyed his audience to grow expertise in key areas of law, create good contents, be consistent and grow a good numbers of followers.

He shared a couple of personal examples and several projects he has accomplished using Social Media as a platform. He concluded the section with the dictum of Court of Appeals Justices in Continental Sales Ltd v R. Shipping Inc. (2012) LPELR-7905(CA) Where the Lawlords held that: The Law cannot be and is not ignorant of modern business methods and must not shut its eyes to the mysteries of computer”

The section was concluded with questions and answers sections, networking and Goodwill message from the organizers of the event.
